Clarice tells her father she misses Thaddeus. The king immediately learns from speaking with Clarice what is troubling her. The doctor tells her father, the king, that Princess Clarice is not sick, she’s sad.

It’s been two weeks since Thaddeus has left the kingdom and the princess is very sick. As Thaddeus is wet and cold he curls up in a nice warm spot on Grandious’ tail and falls asleep. He scampers into a cave where he discovers a lot of gold and Grandious, the dragon. Thaddeus gets lost and it begins to rain. His only quest was to follow this stranger into the forest, which road he hoped would lead him back to her. No one knew Thaddeus was very smart and had his mind and heart set on getting back to the princess. He also left the door ajar so Thaddeus could come and go as he pleased. Mayor Pendleton opened the cage to let Thaddeus roam. One day the mayor came to Josiah’s home to announce there were sightings of a dragon and asked for help to drive him away. Josiah places Thaddeus in a cage and scarcely lets him out for exercise, nor does he pay him much attention. It is not too long before Hermes passes off his duty to care for Thaddeus until he’s corrected his spell when Josiah, a student of wizardry, is given orders to take care of Thaddeus. The king would not allow the princess to leave, as it was her birthday and he didn’t want to ruin her party. The king agreed, but Princess Clarice wanted to go with them. To rectify his unfortunate mistake, Hermes requested to take Thaddeus to his tower to correct the spell. It did, however, cause everyone in the room, except for the princess and Hermes to sneeze as if they all had hay fever. As soon as the spell was cast Thaddeus’ coat turned all sorts of colors.

Upon Princess Clarice’s tenth birthday the wizard bestows another gift for her, believing a spell to make Thaddeus perfect would make the princess very happy. Later the princess gives her kitten a much more proper and fitting name-Thaddeus. This kitten is orange with green eyes and for the time being, Princess Clarice names him fluffy, even though he’s not fluffy at all. This is a story about a king, a princess, a kingdom, a wizard, a dragon, and a forever kitten named Thaddeus told in the traditional flare of fairytales with a great word choice, which takes the reader back in time to the very place of King Victor’s kingdom.Īs the story begins the reader is introduced to an eight-year-old princess named Clarice, who is given a kitten, who remains a kitten forever, on her birthday by the kingdom’s wizard, who is named Hermes.
